I really liked Charlotte and Piers in the first 80% but the book failed me in the last 20%

when Piers "tested" Charlotte by secretly having her mother signing the marriage contracts, telling her they'll announce their engagement and whisking and stashing her away at his estate without any input from Charlotte herself. Nope, thanks.
