3.0

It was ok, I was a bit underwhelmed by the characters. The two men vying for the lead character's affections were pretty shallow, the author clearly didn't give much thought to the dynamic. Some unrealistic action scenes, and poor research done on the part of the author kind of put him in the "newbie amateur author" slot.

For example, three people are shot with tranquilizer darts, and immediately drop, unconscious, to the ground. The slightest bit of research will show that even the strongest tranquilizer takes several minutes *at minimum* to take effect. This kind of thing I expect to read in '60s and '70s Bond novels, not 21st century crime novels/thillers. Readers are, for the most part, just not this naive. Or are they?
3 stars is a bit generous, but I found the premise of the thing intersting enough. Not sure I'll follow the rest of the series though.
