Good story, but the writing is often very cut and dry descriptive. Very show over tell often, which is the style of the chosen narrative, told as a story from Patrocus point of view.
The story travels from his childhood until his late 20/ early 30s
It can get decently descriptive in the gore in the second half and often mention rape as well.

Little to no homophobia. There is a bit of "are you going to pick a wife?" But I cannot remember a scene where anyone was put down or in danger due to being gay.
The second half of the book is in war. Decent gore and blood descriptions.
Sex is mentioned and mildly described, but never in graphic detail.
Rape of women is often mentioned. Rarely described.
