This one is a nope.

First, I was annoyed with yet another book where the so-called badass female lead allowed the alpha hero to walk all over her ...despite their shitty history. She goes into this situation, assigned there by their government. She is not subordinate to him, but she allows him to treat her as if she is from moment 1. A badass would have told him "You stopped being in charge the minute you couldn't keep your people from dying. Now, the big boys sent me to clean up your shitshow, so you go have a seat behind your desk while I handle things." But she didn't. She let him set arbitrary rules, withhold info until she passed petty tests, she let him order her to strip in front of him and then laid there while he tackled her and held her down. Given what she thought of him, it was fucking gross, and it made her a spineless asshole. Clearly not someone anyone should respect as a trained agent.

Then, when you found out what caused the split - that the female was just THAT fucking stupid - I was done. She said she believed he was her mate! And she wouldn't even talk to him before disappearing? Some bitches - known bitches - show up at your home with hickies on them, say your mate gave them the hickies, that he's cheating on you...and you believe it without question. And you bolt. Seriously? That was far - far! - from proof. She got played by some bitches. That makes her dumber than a bag of rocks.

She's an asshole. He's an asshole. I don't care about either of them, and don't care to see them reconcile. Bleh.
