In the Shadow of Power by Viveca Sten

A slog

I was halfway through this book on another platform and prepared to give up. Then I saw it on Kindle Unlimited and thought, well, at least I can get to the end to see what details I'll need going forward (because most of the books in this series are enjoyable). Imagine my surprise when it opened to the end, showing I'd read it before. I remembered absolutely nothing, not even the fact that Nora had had another child (not a spoiler). Most of this series brings you right into the action while still developing the characters, but this one just drug on and on, repeating the same ideas, such as one needing to understand the island's customs to be accepted. Other concepts as well, but those might spoil the plot for those willing to give it a try.

Crossing my fingers that book 8 is up to Sten's usual standards.
