The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

5.0

well….wow. um. i’m gonna be honest, it took me a month simply because it was such a SLOW start for me (especially after coming off my previous read & being on vacation) that it took me a little over a week just to read chapter 2.

however, after annotating & book tabbing when i got halfway through, i’m actually flabbergasted that it took me so long to get through it. obviously when the war started, that’s when i tried to brace myself since i already know the myth. but let me tell you…i couldn’t brace myself enough for how the last 4 chapters went..

madeline miller’s writing is beautiful and the imagery was so spectacular that i caught myself imagining the characters making certain facial expressions.

speaking of characters, my favorite is a mix of patroclus & briseis even though i found certain things that achilles did to be familiar with my personality (ik ik) but ultimately, these two tie for my favorite.

i love patroclus as a main character, especially in the beginning because let me tell you…this man is F-U-N-N-Y…
