Well...I rather liked the idea of this icy world and big bird-like creatures ready to eat you every season. At the beginning, it had some nice creepy chills, and I'm here for that! I also liked the world building and the language in general, a really nice job on author's side. Chapters could have been longer (more than 50 chapters for less than 300 pages is a bit strange), but they also allowed me to finish a chapter before going to sleep, so at the same time as being annoyed, I was also grateful.
However - ready to jump bones at 50% mark is not something I would call slow burn romance (especially as the characters knew each other at this point for a week max) and this book is basically a cliché over cliché on top of cliché. She is super strong female lead with smart mouth who can't, for the love of her, just shut up and he is big bulky beautiful man with the strongest jaw bones and widest shoulders. And of course, let us not forget she is super short, cute as a button while he is basically the size of a brick house.
P.S. "the decadent silk of (his) eyelids" is one of the cringiest descriptions I've ever read.
