I went into this novel expecting a thriller with a twist of supernatural and was slightly disappointed in the story. The story’s synopsis suggest a sort of supernatural vibe in the book and it’s mentioned enough but not delved into as much as I would like. It’s starts off fast but slows down a lot after the child’s disappearance. There is also a rather upsetting animal cruelty scene that is so random and makes no sense why it was added I audibly said “WTF” out loud as I read it. The synopsis made the story sound far better than it actually was. I might of enjoyed this more if I hadn’t of thought the supernatural aspect would of been played upon more. There were some big reveals that I enjoyed but other than that the story just felt flat to me with the middle portion being so slow and drawn out before it got interesting.
