Manuscript Found in Accra by Paulo Coelho

3.0

This is really a short read, just 78 pages. Well, I expected more from this book rather than copying the style of Khalil Gibran's The Prophet. From Paulo Coelho, I've only read The Alchemist, and it's totally great. The Alchemist is one of the best book that I've read.

Manuscript Found in Accra, I believe, is a sort of Fiction, well, sermon, I can call it. Yet I still don't understand why this book is named Manuscript Found in Accra. And till now, I still can't decide whether it is a historical reality or a mere fiction. -__-

As you probably heard, this book imitated The Prophet by Khalil Gibran. Written in Questions and Answers style, about wisdom, but in a less poetical language. And the wisdom inside is, I can say, less sensible than Khalil Gibran's. There are lots of you-don't-say sayings inside. Although this book can remind you of some wisdom in life, I'd recommend Khalil Gibran first.

Well, no book is vain to read. Apart from copying The Prophet, there are also some great wisdom beneath the cover of this book.

"Dreaming carries no risks. The dangerous thing is trying to transform your dreams into reality."

"Elegance is not an outer quality, but a part of the soul that is visible to others."

"Beautiful words a spoken by poets. And one day, someone will write :
I fell asleep and dreamed that life was only Happiness.
I woke and discovered that life was Duty.
I did my duty and discovered that life was Happiness.

"What is success? It is being able to go to bed each night with your soul at peace."

"Scars speak more loudly than the sword that caused them."

"A rose dreams of enjoying the company of bees, but none appears. The sun asks:
"Aren’t you tired of waiting?"
"Yes," answers the rose, "but if I close my petals, I will wither and die.""

"In the cycle of nature there is no such thing as victory or defeat; there is only movement."

As you read, those sayings are quite beautiful isn't it?
