Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

5.0

i didn’t know what to expect when i read this as i went into it completely blind but it was amazing. i loved that they were academic rivals and their banter was top notch. the historical setting was fun to read, especially how the were both journalists and the magical letters were perfection!! you can tell how much the characters mean to each other and you can feel their love through the pages. i gaslit myself into thinking this was a stand-alone so the ending pretty much slapped me in the face

“Iris! Iris, it’s me, Kitt.” - I WEEPED AND WAILED

the fact they are separated and Kitt might be unintentionally turned evil scares me 😭 KITT CRAWLED. CRAWLED TO HER. HE COULDNT BREATHE, COULDNT WALK. HE HAD 1 MINUTE TO LIVE AND HE WAS STILL CRAWLING AND TRYING TO REACH HER.

Dacre was quiet, watching the man crawl. What was he seeking? Why didn’t he just lie down and die? His soul was so anguished, nearly rent in half. It made Dacre wince.
KITTS LOVE AND DETERMINATION TO FIND IRIS MADE A GOD WINCE

attire and marisol were amazing! I loved them and how supportive they were, the wedding scene aww!!

i don’t know how to feel about forest. i don’t like the fact he DRAGGED iris away from Kitt when he was only 15m away, especially when he knew Iris and Kitt loved each other because he bloody watched the wedding.

I need book 2 now

reread: SCREAMING CRYING SOBBING. my heart aches for iris and roman.
