The Co-op by Tarah DeWitt

3.0

I liked it, but even though I was super intrigued by the premise and the promised tropes (marriage of convenience, second chance romance, forced proximity), I just didn’t love it. It was missing the magic element that was in Funny Feelings.

What I liked:
•The relationship background (I wish we were given more flashbacks for even more context)
•The characters’ flaws on display in a raw, transparent way
•Multigenerational families and grappling with trauma through each generation

What I didn’t:
•Plot just felt messy (I think the author is still finding her rhythm, but I do really like her voice!)
•Too easy of a resolution? It felt like a plateau after a decently ramped-up first half
•Some grammatical errors that always bother me

I’ll still read this author’s next work, and I genuinely recommend Funny Feelings!
