Solid romance - really loved the engagement with how one really knows if they’re making the right choices or just living out their childhood trauma (RELATABLE). I also like what AJC did with the fake dating trope. While most end up feeling like a romp (enjoyable and fun but requiring a suspension of disbelief) this felt more grounded in real life, like how it would be if two people were thrown into these circumstances but had enough trust and maturity to talk it out more.

Only complaint is much like the heroine, this book felt more analytical than emotional. The characters said they felt fear about losing each other and I believed it but didn’t feel it fully. Still definitely worth a read and made me think!
