My Best Friend’s Exorcism
By Grady Hendrix
Narrated by Emily Woo Zeller

“I love you, Gretchen Lang. You are my reflection and my shadow and I will not let you go. We are bound together forever and ever! Until Halley’s Comet comes around again. I love you dearly and I love you queerly and no demon is bigger than this!”

5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was an unexpected surprise. Although the narration was absolute perfection I really regret not getting the paper copy for all the additional details it has, and of course for that forking awesome cover! It’s such an attractive book, I love the whole theme. I think that’s why I never bothered with it until now - usually books that look this awesome are actually complete shit!

This book was so addictive. I couldn’t stop listening and would create scenarios where I could listen more as I HAD to find out what happened next. When I got to the end I very nearly began again as I was so sad to lose it. I was a child in the 80s and, like Gretchen, my first cinema experience was E.T. This book gave me such a wonderful sense of nostalgia - kind of like what Ready Player One attempted to do but didn’t actually pull off. My Best Friend’s Exorcism gave a very real sense of what it felt like to be a kid in the 80s, especially with all the little details. United Colours of Bennetton perfume, anyone?

Now please excuse me while I go and read everything this guy has ever written…
