i didn’t like the first book so i wasn’t surprised that the second was even worse for me. none of the action/intensity really felt like it hit as i was experiencing it after the fact or in clunky dialogue form as it was happening. the characters were still unlikeable and the plot seemed to get more boring tbh. parts of the genetics and overall science of the book, when talked about, also just came out like pretentious info dumps i didn’t care about. and don’t get me started on the big reveal on the mysterious narrator we had - it was stupid and didn’t even matter in the end. what a waste.
the only reason i read it (and will read the third) is that weird completionism thing i have.
who knows?? maybe the end will really win me over
