The Summer You Found Me by Elizabeth O'Roark

4.0

I had read book 1 and 2 of this serie before, and I didn’t like the first one and thought the second was just ok so I didn’t expect much from this one. I was extremely surprised.

From book 2 (do read it before this one, you would miss too much without it) you start from a bad first impression of Kate. She is determined to get Caleb back and thinks the worst of Lucie without any reason except that she’s in her way. But as the book goes on, the Kate’s character gets deeper and better explained. Her grief, her loss, her addiction, her childhood, you understand how they forged her into who she is - a messy, imperfect and very lost person who’s hanging on the one thing that had brought her joy. She makes a lot of mistakes, and they were many frustrating times in the book, but I couldn’t help but understand where she was coming.
