I'll Take New York by Miranda Dickinson

4.0

Bea has just broken up a five-year relationship and Jake's wife has asked for a divorce, causing him to move back to New York City. When the two meet as the only two singles at a party, they make a pact to explore New York with no relationships.
It's a nice concept, but the real romance is with New York City. I loved how they traveled around to all the tourist spots and also their own little bits of the city.
The actual romance is a very slow-burn story that kind of falls apart at the end. Jake and Bea are so self-unaware that it drove me crazy, but the contrived endings with their exes didn't work for me. The two had nice chemistry and I thought they could have realized it themselves without all the drama. Also, how is Bea's traveling family just flying around to get there for dinner on such short notice (several times)? It seemed like they could have begged off once or twice and bringing Grandma just seemed over-the top. Anyway, this is 3 1/2 stars for me rounded up.
