I had not read any of the previous books in this series, but that did not stop me from enjoying it all the same. It is a very fast read with fun and likable characters. The gadgets that you can make as you read along as pretty cool as well. I will be purchasing the rest of this series to read with my daughter when she is older so we can build all the gadgets.
