Empress of all Seasons by Emiko Jean

1.0

this book honestly feels more like an outline than a finished, edited work. it’s flat and the characters are shallow and underdeveloped. they are just words on paper rather than multi-dimensional creatures they should be to make this worth the journey. the story lacks emotion, relatable emotion. and relatable characters. some lines are nice and deep and would make an impact, but they are framed in nothing, so they do nothing. all the feeble attempts at character development are also destroyed with the odd plot choices the author makes, which come completely out of nowhere. and all that in short, simple sentences. all book long. it was beyond frustrating and honestly quite exhausting to read.

it’s a book that I would not recommend to anyone older than 12.
