To Dawn by Michelle Ryan

4.0

If you like Joss Whedon's snappy banter style, you will be pleased as punch with the rapid fire nature of this dialogue-heavy novel. The 19 named Chapters are split into 2 Parts, the first starting with a prologue and the second ending with an epilogue. The inclusion of a character named Corey gave it an echo of 80s nostalgia, and the character named Bella seemed a little nod to the vampires of Twilight. It's the punchy - sometimes anachronistic and genre-aware - sarcastic back and forth that puts this title in the same arena as the screenwriting of Avengers and Firefly. These characters have attitude, teeth, and a splash of vengeance.
