In comparison to the first book in this series, I could seriously be tempted to rate this book higher. I enjoyed this one so much more than the first. It probably helped that I was distracted by an overuse if ellipses.

In general j liked the evolution of the characters in this one. I loved the addition of Shiori as well. And I would even like it if she and Knox got their own spin off. The first half worked for me. It laid the groundwork for Amery and Ronin's repairing relationship. And we got to see Ronin giving more and more of himself while Amery learned to hold back a not more in efforts of guarding herself and rebuilding trust.

Unfortunately, the second half was a bit of a let down. Too any things side stories felt incomplete or superfluous to the main story. Then there's the very anticlimatic ending. The foundation was laid for what could have been a very intriguing ending. Unfortunately it ended up fizzling out. [From Naomi's appearance, to Amery's parents, and Ronin's mom, it all just kind of finished and didn't really have the bang it could have. Even Chaz's roll was completely necessary when his character was one that could have added to the story IMO. Same argument could be made for Molly].

As a whole though, I enjoyed it. While I am glad this is supposed to be the last book for Amery and Ronin, I would definitely pick up a spinoff about Shiori and hopefully Knox.
