If there is one thing this book does well, it is characterisation. Both the characters of Monique - Evelyn’s biographer - and Evelyn herself are ridiculously well written (and arguably more importantly, well thought out). Plus, the plot itself is crazy entertaining, with crazy, gripping storylines, drama for days, and unsolved arcs that make you think about the character(s) so much more. The fact that I reread it in just 3 days is enough to tell you how incredibly gripping the plot is.
So a banging plot, complex characters, and beautiful (if not world-breaking) prose makes this a perfect 5 stars.
This is a book about fame, its cost on the person and on relationships, love, and sexuality. It’s a look into famed actress and sex icon (I suppose) Evelyn Hugo, her rise to fame, and her infamous 7 marriages. It deals with complexities in relationships and the “grey areas” of a person’s character.
