Affair by Amanda Quick

5.0

I first read this book when I was a teenager, and it's been the one I've remembered most vividly whenever I think about Amanda Quick novels. I'm so glad I found it again! Baxter and Charlotte are adorable together, and the mystery is silly and fun with ~mesmerism~. It has the Amanda Quick staple of having the fearless heroine loosening up the hero, and Baxter definitely gets swept away which is fun to see, particularly given his family situation and background. He's not an Alpha male like so many other romance novels have; instead, he's reliable and a chemistry nerd. Charlotte sees him as passionate and even dangerous while the entire rest of the world finds him staid.
