TW for this book that almost made me stop reading it: early in the book, it is very suddenly revealed that one of the characters sexually abused a young girl. There was no foreshadowing to this, and the plot moved away from it VERY QUICKLY. In my opinion, the author could have chosen ANYTHING ELSE to serve the same plot purpose, but instead chose to use child pornography as a motivation for one character to hate another character.

That being said. I really liked the world that this book created, especially because I'm such a fan of martial arts culture. I really liked how complex and unique each character was. The plot was intense and gruesome and interesting. Towards the middle, I felt like I was peering into their little self contained world. I'm begrudgingly glad I finished it.
