Utterly thought provoking and wrapped in unique yet deliciously descriptive prose. Themes and intent of the book seemed to change on a dime somewhat to its detriment (maybe I just didn’t fully grasp it), but I’m not mad about, simply just sitting here wondering what it was possibly all about. Great as a potential “dark academia” staple, particularly as it contends with ideas of privilege, class, pretension, and the Academy as a navel-gazing voyeur of poverty and suffering, though there’s much more to the story than this.
Graphic: Alcohol, Animal cruelty, Animal death, Blood, Death, Gore, Injury/Injury detail, Murder, Suicidal thoughts, and Toxic friendship
