An easy, breezy covid bed rest read. FINALLY addressed the issues with consent and alcoholism that I had with the last book. And quite well too. Now, all that said…I don’t particularly get what the relationship is between Davy and Murdo. I get that they’re attracted to each other, and that Murdo gives Davy a deep sense of security. But it’s not clear to me what Murdo gets out of being with Davy other than wry amusement at his moral certainty.

Obviously I will be reading the third book to find out! By the end, when they were developing a real friendship, with kindness, and care, I bought into it. It also really made me appreciate that the first book ended on a truly ambiguous note about the future of their relationship. Like, it’s a romance trilogy so you know they’re going to end up together. But this story feels like we’re going to really earn the HEA, which is nice.
