The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
2.0
This one was fine, but there were enough elements that I did not care for that it is a 2-star read for me.
I was initially interested in following the breadcrumbs to see what happened to Owen, but as things started unravelling, I was disappointed. First off, I didn't love the fact that he disappeared, leaving an angry teenaged daughter with her stepmom of ONE YEAR, telling his wife to protect this kid who has been a total asshole to her.
Spoilery bits here:
With that said, the elements that I liked were enough that I will probably try another book by this author.

I don't care for organized crime books, so realizing that was ultimately the reason for his disappearance was a letdown. It was also very frustrating that he just... never comes back and forces the main character to finish raising his daughter. I know that she was wholeheartedly on board, but I believe the timeline was that they had known each other for a total of maaaybe two years? You are really going to just trust that this person will take care of your child? With that said, the elements that I liked were enough that I will probably try another book by this author.
