The Ruthless Lady's Guide to Wizardry by C.M. Waggoner

4.0

The language definitely took some getting used to - I wanna say it was Scottish? - but ultimately created a more immersive experience in a fantasy world. I know Scotland actually exists, but it’s not my average day so it felt more special to me (lol).
I loved the sprinkling of romance and “will they, won’t they” that kept me intrigued and eager to see the romance reach its peak. That’s the only thing that knocked down the experience; I feel it ended too abruptly and never gave the ultimate catharsis that I kept racing to get to.
Was it still cute? Absolutely. I just wish there was more of a romantic reward for riding the push and pull it took to get there.
