Ngl, I feel a little tricked. I sought this book out for its abusive elements, and it was quite enjoyable as such. I love these charming and manipulative characters, complex power dynamics. And there was much to be had. And in the chance that my bird of a feather may one day cross this comment, that like-minded person who has a thing for abusive relationships, I do highly recommend this book for abuse “porn”.
Then the first phase of the book passed and delved into a deeper story that I could not remotely have anticipated. And I could not put it down.
This book is an easy 5 stars from me. Despite my initial expectations, and my disappointment to lose those, I can fully appreciate and cherish the direction the author took.
