read the book because billlie's "enchanted night ~ white night" was inspired by it, specifically and only

the part about summer storm and the girls going into ppl's houses

. the rest of the book aside from that part was really not enjoyable. I wanted to find the artistry in the storylines that were being described, especially laura's and danny's, but they were just really fucking creepy and weird. would love to read more about what the author was trying to say with this but i think the objectification of several of the girls (and the guys actually!!) made it hard to appreciate the enchanting magic of the moonlight. i did really love some of the prose, millhauser obviously knows how to write, but again, all very heavily outweighed by the unnecessary creepiness.
