Blood Sisters by Jane Corry

4.0

Two half-sisters, bound not only by family but also by a terrible tragedy, each living in their own personal prisons. Kitty was left severely mentally and physically disabled by the accident, living out her days in a personal care home where she screams yet no one can understand her. Alison has her own scars, emotionally and mentally from the accident and physically from self-harm, and lives her days as simply as possible, avoiding any close personal relationships. Both sisters are keeping secrets -- on on purpose and one due to her inability to talk. Each will be forced to face their past and their secrets, as well as the type of sisters they really were to one another. What really happened that day and who is truly at fault for the accident?

Corry captures the tenuous relationship most sisters share with the confidence of someone who knows from personal experience. There is a thin line between love and hate, and these sisters seemed to have crossed that line several times. At first, each sister has their own point-of-view that leads readers to believe they know who each character really is. As the story progresses, however, we learn that not all is what it seems. Mysterious, suspenseful, and unpredictable with several twists you won't see coming.
