Have you ever read a book and had it completely surprise you? That was this for me. I don't know what I expected when I picked it up, probably thinking it was going to be another book that "almost" did something important but didn't quite get to the root and cover all the dimensions surrounding the issue, or it would be another story that oversimplified something so completely but sprinkled in all the right terminology that the whole thing feels like a "cash grab" (you know the books I'm describing), but when I finished reading this aloud to my daughter, I remember thinking..."WOW, this is EXACTLY what I have been searching for (but didn't realize I had been searching for)!" I wish I had had this book when I was growing up. The phrasing, illustrations, diversity, and depth are truly perfect.
