Enjoyed the first volume and would read the other books in the series. I haven’t read a whole lot of Greek mythology retellings prior to this book, and I think Smythe does a good job of explaining the roles of the characters in this story as well as convey information behind some of the more notable tales of Greek mythology. It is a rather dark retelling, so I would advise to check out content warnings before deciding to read it or not. While you don’t get as much of Hades and Persephone’s relationship, you do get a nice build-up to their relationship as well as some pretty cute moments. If you want a starter book to get into Greek mythology retellings and you don’t mind the book not entirely be about Hades and Persephone, you might enjoy Lore Olympus Volume 1.
