New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

I thought I wouldn't like this book as much as Twilight, since it suffers from a distinct lack of Edward, but it was still really good. The interactions with Bella and Jacob are engaging in an entirely different way. Admittedly, the fact that there are so many mythical monsters in this one town is a little bit silly, but I'm willing to roll with that--maybe Forks has a hellmouth I'm not aware of yet. And Bella is still...Bella-like. There were parts of this when I just wanted to smack her in the face--like, seriously he was great, we know, but now he's gone so freaking suck it up, woman! But if you look at it through the lens of the original book, the whole first love thing, and you remember what it was like when that didn't work out....if someone wrote a book about me when that happened to me, readers would want to smack me too. So I let it pass. :-) I'm looking forward to Eclipse to see how the story progresses.
