I'm not sure what I expected, but this book is just... wow.
It is very well written and has a captivating plot. My only criticism would be the characters' ages, as it is unlikely that 16-17 year-olds would go through such adventures.
Regarding the romance, it isn't the center of attention, but my heart can't handle the slow burn of Inej and Kaz, as well as Nina and Matthias' enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers loop. They're really well-written love stories that keep you rooting for them.
I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the sequel.
