Quick Confidence: Be Authentic, Boost Connections, and Make Bold Bets on Yourself by Selena Rezvani

2.0

I read this one because (full disclosure) the author was a colleague at my very first job, and we’ve kept in touch ever since. I think it’s a helpful, tactical book for younger professionals, but what it really made me think about was power. There’s so much here about claiming your power and not letting other people steal it. And I think that’s how a lot of environments are, this grasping at power and status, which made me kind of sad to contemplate. My biggest takeaway was this concept about making promises to yourself, based on the premise that we build trust with others by doing what we say we will do, but do we hold ourselves to the same standard and build self-trust?
