Gregor the Overlander, by Suzanne Collins

3.0

1) Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

2) Genre: Young Adult

3) Synopsis: Gregor falls through a vent in his basement and travels to a new world. A world with bats, rats, cockroaches, and spiders at war. Gregor needs to find allies to help him on his journey.

4) Feelings: I read this book for two reasons. One because my wife said she really liked this book. Two because it was written by Suzanne Collins. You know the Suzanne Collins that wrote "Hunger Games". First let me say I can see this is a good book but it had too many of my pet peeves to give it a rating better than 3 stars. This book had talking animals. I am not sure why this annoys me but it really does. This book also uses weird rhythms and spelling to show another language or accent. Hate that. I really do. So when animals were talking in weird spelling (I am a horrible speller by the way) or people were talking like Yoda. Annoying it is. Crazy it me drives.

5) Final recommendation: If your pet peeves are the same as mine I don't recommend this book. The book was still entertaining I just couldn't get past those two things. Sorry Suzanne. I loved Hunger Games though.
