Soulless by Gail Carriger

4.0

Alexia and her silver-tipped parasol have been on my tbr for ages, and I'm so glad I've finally ripped off the brown paper wrapping. I adore standalone romances, but even those with beautifully interwoven series structures that keep you skipping from book to book lack that single narrative voice. And that single, in this case indomitable, voice is sometimes the key to a series being the ultimate comfort read. Not that there aren't plenty of hair-raising and flesh-creeping moments in Soulless, but you know to back Alexia and her parasol. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
