This was a re-read in preparation for the third in the series. I found the FMC, Juniper, harder to like than the first book’s FMC, Raelynn.  I am not sure why. I know some find Rae annoying but I think I must identify with the delusional optimist. LOL. Juniper may not be my favorite, but Zane’s love for Juni…. *swoon* I mean, tell me this doesn’t make your breath catch: “Fix you? Ah, little wolf, I have no desire to fix you. I just want to see see all your broken edges shine. I want to feel how sharp you are.” 🫠

The plot of this one is synchronous with the first book so you know how it will end. As a result it didn’t have that dramatic tension that can ratchet up so deliciously. There are moments that aren’t depicted in the first book and those are probably my favorites, especially the club. And of course, in keeping with the first book, the spice does not disappoint.

Overall a fast, fun, spicy read that got me to where I needed to be to start book 3.
