One Day by David Nicholls

3.0

First of all, I should say I really like the idea of the book, even if it is a little frustrating for the reader. In my reading history, I haven't read a book which limits it's storyline to one day a year so for that I think it's achieved something. Although there's still a good chance that I'm wrong.

I have just read this in the wave after the film - after everyone else and so I'd been reading with the comments of my friends in mind. And to be honest, I felt that I had to read this book, as a way to back up my "bookish" nature as this was being recommended by people who rarely even read books.

Due to this, it failed to live up to the hype, as often happens. I like the characters - now. I also think they make for quite a nice romance, apart from the three chapters of his life being crap at the end which did wind me up a little.

I guess, as someone who has recently graduated, there are things which I can both relate to and learn from with this book - I guess I've read it at the right time.

Anyhoo, I shall be watching the film soon which I am sure will not fail to disappoint.
