This one was decent, not really my cup of tea but very well told.  The imagery and allusions are interesting, the main character is not super likeable, though in parts I did feel very sympathetic to her. Not super bothered by characters being grumpy/emo/generally unlikeable so overall I did care what was gonna happen to Sam.

The unpredictability and unusuallness of the plot was fun. I'm not sure I 100% understood what the author was going for in parts, there's a lot left vague. There's some interesting critiques of academia and exploration of friendship, but I felt some parts were kinda tonally samey, very dark and cynical.

I really liked the author's writing style and appreciated the surreal and satirical elements of the book. This one's in first person and the author does a good job of portraying the emotions of Sam through the changes in narration, goes from a hostility to a very melancholic quality that I enjoyed to a almost feverish and hypnotised style in parts. The writing was really very good.

So really liked the writing and overall enjoyed it, just wish I understood it better.
