Not sure why I picked this up; I'm not usually a fan of reading about serial killers. But I remembered this as a one-shot and saw it at a bookstore as a thicker volume and was curious. There's been a lot added to this to flesh it out that makes it more worthwhile. I still think it relies a bit too much on trading in a weak personal connection and trying to make it something more, but the bits added really flesh out the time period, the atmosphere, and make it more atmospheric and not quite but almost cinematic, which adds enough to make a big difference. The artwork reminds me of Charles Burns, Howard Cruse, R. Crumb, in the level of detail, style of cartooning, and overall creepiness.
