Franny is a complicated character and there is a lot of time-jumping around throughout her life as you get to know her story. This story is set in the (not-too-distant?) future where a large number of animal species have gone extinct. Franny's speech and descriptions were very evocative and many moments made me very emotional (though I admittedly often cry when reading). I ultimately enjoyed this book, but I ended up way more concerned about Franny and her mental health than the many animals she sees disappearing. If you liked Where the Crawdads Sing (which I liked less due to a similar twist, but executed less well ), you might enjoy this as well.
Graphic: Car accident
Minor: Animal death, Sexual assault, and Suicide
