The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams

5.0

I have read this book many a time and I'm writing a review a few years after the last time that I read the series in its entirety, so my comments will be pretty general and short.

Adams is a talented writer. He is intelligent, inventive and easy to read. His sense of humor makes it hard to put the book down and the story is fast-paced, often functions as a biting critique of modern society, and consistently both funny and thoughtful.

The only advice that I can give a prospective reader is not to do what I did originally and try to read all the stories, listen to all the radio shows, and watch the TV show and movies all at once. They are all the same story, so it gets exhausting and (sorry, Adams) a little boring. Overall, though, it is one of those stories that you can't help returning to over and over again.
