This is definitely not a book I would normally pick up, but I’m glad I did. It was really cool to read a book about a culture that I’ve really never seen discussed before. I think it was also cool taking the journey with Anna. I feel that the “finding family” trope is usually isolated to just young people or teenagers, but I thought it was intriguing that a 40-something-year-old could still find family. You don’t see that often in literature.
Graphic: Racial slurs and Racism
