In the Miso Soup by Ryū Murakami

4.0

To me, this book wasn’t about the gore or horror, that was just secondary to the intelligent commentary on the society, loneliness, the human psyche, and the sex industry. Sure, the book was graphic and not for the faint of heart, but it was cleverly woven into a deeper philosophical conversation on disillusionment and contradictions in societal values, and I greatly enjoyed it!
