4.0

Not me reading an entire series and forgetting to update anything. So I finally finished the series and I can say that giving it the rating of 3.5 that I am as a whole hurts. The first few volumes of this are phenomenal, some of the most down to earth and enjoyable story telling you can get in a romance. But as time went on, the cracks definitely started to show. Very little plot progression between the main couple and in general, some very questionable writing, especially with Hori’s character which does a complete 180 from pre-confession to post, and a lot of arcs that just make you think it should’ve ended years earlier. And despite this, THE ENDING STILL FELT RUSHED? Cmon now.

It’s not all negative. The building up and fleshing out of the side characters was really fun for the most part, the art was consistently fantastic, and there are still some fun arcs throughout the latter half of the volumes.

Overall, is this manga bad? No, far from it. Dare I say the first 4 or 5 volumes are a 5 star read. But how things plateaued and stagnated past that point very much left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth in the end. But if you want a simple romance and slice of life series, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
