The plot in this volume revolved a lot about Shi Qingxuan which I really enjoyed since I absolutely adore his character. I didn’t expect his arc to be as devastating as it was, and I hope that things resolve for him in the next volume. I think the relationship between Shi Wudu and Shi Qingxuan is one of the most complex in the books so far. It really broke my heart reading about Shi Qingxuan finding out that the older brother he admired so much is capable of such horrible things, and that other lives were ruined because the extreme lengths Shi Wudu took to protect him. And Shi Qungxuan losing the best friend he never really had *screaming crying throwing up*
I really enjoy learning more about the other gods because I think they are such unique and interesting individuals. They all have their complex pasts and dirty secrets they don’t want anyone to find out. Even though they are blessed with divine power, they are not above the complicated and petty feelings of humans.
The Xie Lian and Hua Cheng scenes in this book did NOT disappoint. I was giggling kicking my feet the entire time. Xie Lian finally realizing that he feels something for Hua Cheng when theymake out
✨exchange spiritual powers✨. The scene when they are talking about being seen at their worst times actually melted my heart, because Xie Lian doesn’t remember Hua Cheng from his past seeing him at his worst and still loving him 800 years later *sobbing*.
Even though this volume had some heavy scenes, I have to say the comedy was absolute gold. I was laughing out loud so many times. Xie Lian poisoning gods and ghosts with his cooking… hilarious every time!!
