A smart, strong female lead, a brawny Scotsman, a sickbed in a country estate, declarations of love and steamy hotness… this book has everything?! Plus, there’s an additional element of mystery as someone is trying to kill our brave hero. Totally bananas!

It’s emotional, tender, smoking hot, funny, and sweet. Content warning: infertility. The heroine is “barren due to uterine fibroids,” and there are conversations about infertility.

I read this book out of order (it’s part of the Ravenel series), but the story is great as a stand alone. A reader who is familiar with St. Vincent and the Wallflowers will appreciate their appearance and the role he plays in this book even more.

The audiobook is a bonus. Mary Jane Wells is an absolute treasure! She captures the characters and her accents are super fun.
