4.5
An incredibly gracious and honest memoir that focuses on an enmeshed, dysfunctional family system, child abuse, OCD and eating disorders, exploitation of child actors, and grief...but also perseverance, friendship, and healing. McCurdy narrates the audiobook, and I listened to it straight through. Her delivery is compelling and, at times, darkly humorous.
Graphic: Body shaming, Cancer, Child abuse, Eating disorder, Emotional abuse, Fatphobia, Mental illness, and Sexual violence
Moderate: Vomit
Minor: Transphobia
Selected "transphobia" but more specifically, casual use of an intersex slur.
