I really appreciated the way the author was able to get information across in an accessible way. I feel like I learned a lot about the process of treatment and diagnosis, as well as differences between the Japanese healthcare system and the Canadian one. I thought it touched on an important factor, that is, what people can do if they don't have a supportive family of origin to rely on. It's surprising to me that guarantors and witnesses with some degree of relation are required in Japan.
The art style was cute and I liked the mix between cartoon depictions of people and realistic ones--and the ones clearly influenced by the author's eromanga background. The details of her knowing about certain things due to BL research were really funny. I really sympathized with her having to miss fandom events due to her sudden diagnosis and treatment.
Although it's sad to think now that the author has passed away, I was glad at the end of the manga that she had gone into remission--she did end up getting a few years longer than they initially thought. I hope all the caring people in her life are doing well these days.
